Larger boats can use NEMA SS-1 (Twisit-locking type) outlets with a 50-amp, 120-volt system.
In 30 amp and 50 amp systems, the shore power line contains three conductors.
The black is not grounded (“hot”) and carries 120 volts of electricity, the white is the grounding conductor or neutral wire, and the green is the grounding conductor.

Larger yachts generally use NEMA SS-2 receptacles (Twisit-locking type) with 50 amp or 100 amp 120/240 volt electrical systems.
X and Y is Hot wire.G is Grouding wire,W is Neutral Wire.
This power ground wire consists of four wires: a white neutral wire, a green ground wire, and an ungrounded red and black hot wire.
Each hot wire carries a voltage of 120 volts. Two 120-volt conductors provide the 240-volt voltage needed to power large appliances such as stoves and clothes dryers.
